Our team members at NP, Inc. aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty. Our own John Diggs from U.S. Mortgage of Florida – Delray Beach Branch is a proud sponsor of the environmental initiative called Community Greening. He and his team have been rolling up their sleeves and planting trees around Delray Beach, Fla.!
Community Greening is “a collective effort to improve our environment for people and nature. We are an engaged community creating sustainable green spaces and a vibrant tree canopy to strengthen our environment, economy, society and health equitably.” Along with the City of Delray Beach, Community Greening and John Diggs’ “Let’s Talk Mortgage” crew has been an active part of planting trees at Merritt Park, reclaiming unused lots and turning them into beautiful green spaces for the community.
Community Greening is also planting fruit trees for local communities — a collection of trees picked by the residents using a “you-pick” policy. These “urban orchards” that were once desolate city-owned lots are now thriving green spaces that also address food accessibility and healthy eating. You can find a variety of trees planted in the urban orchards, including avocado, breadfruit, canistel, fig, guava, jackfruit, Jamaican cherry, mamey, mango, mulberry, persimmon, sapodilla, sapote, starfruit and sugar apple.
